Should I buy a x800 pro or...

This is probably the wrong place to post this first part, but it is worth a try...

I have $400 put down on a XBox 360 and I am debating on pulling it out for x800 Pro or equivalent cost for the money or get the XBox 360. I love BF2, but so disappointed at my current graphics card (Saphire 9800 Pro).

Here is another question, what does the system RAM do for BF2:
game play performace (aside from graphics card) or
preloading maps and game servers? or both?

I currently have a 512mb PC2700, would I see any difference with another 512mb? If so, at what point.

x800 pro for $400?

Other than that, its really up to you - if you like gaming when friends are over or enjoy console games...go for xbox, if you play by yourself often and want more performace with your PC - go with the x800pro. it really narrows down to personal preference.

Thanks FS, I know it is personal preference. Obviously, I can't make up my own mind. If someone where in the same boat as me, I wonder what they would do. What would you do? What video card is worth $400? Is there one as comparible for less?

i would buy the xbox 360 thats whar im saving for, more games come out for it and better graphics.

xbox 360 all the way, some of the new games comin like gears of war are like holy f***in hell graphic wise. Look awsome, x800 isnt 400 got mine for 240 at newegg.

You should think about the X800XL, it has 12 more pipes than the pro, and has about the same clock speeds, mine is awesome, i can run max settings with 6xAA with 1280x960 at a healthy 25-65 fps, but i run some at medium after reading the BF2 tweak guide, it gives me like 10 more fps, no lag except for the first 10 seconds when you join the server.

It's good, it's actuallly from ATi itself and it's not OEM. It's a great card, have one myself, but in PCI-e version.

I got an x800xl for $220 on ebay...yes it was new.

MSI X800 Pro PCI-E was $199 at zipzoomfly.com last week, might have sold out by now though
