Maybe he had enough stactic eletricity and shut down his whole system, even when the power supply is off and everything, you can short out your system, don't wanna do that, costs like more than 1300 bucks to get a decent system with a 7800GTX.

He was saying he just stroked his card. i think he was joking. I have gotten a zap from board before though. Was reaching in to check a fan and my arm slipped and i bumped the board. OWIE!!!!

The 7800 Ultra, due out by Christmas will have much higher clockspeeds than the 7800 GTX.

Yeah, i know, it was an analogy to how much he loved his card, but outta curiousity, whydya check your PC when it was still on, that's dangerous for you and your comp, always turn off your comp and unplug the powersupply and wait for at least 5 seconds.

amd athlon 64 4000+
abit ax8 motherboard
1gb pc-3200@400mhz
7800gt oc 256mb
audigy 2zs
160gb seagate barracudda
dvd drive


will that psu be good for my amd 4000+ and my 7800gt?

There won't be any 7800 Ultra. It's even stupid to call it that cuz Ultra name was dropped to be replaced by GTX. nVidia said that the 2 90nm cores they are taping are gonna be for mainstream market, their gonna be like 6600s are to 6800s. I doubt we'll see another high-end card from nvidia, especially before christmas.

Death Merchant, check the amps on the 12v rail for that PSU and that'll tell you if it'll be good or not. You can't tell by the wattage.

I would doubt that ATI would stay on 16 pipelines. Maybe for the lower end cards, but I can't see them sticking to 16 for their high end gaming cards.

I'd drop the 4000 and go with the X2 3800+, it's a little bit cheaper and can eaily and safely be clocked to perform on par with the FX-55 using stock cooling.
