Sorry if this is like the 50th question on this subject but I was searching and I couldn't find my solution.

Anyways, what should your virtual memory be set to? Also, how do you change it? I heard like a month or two ago that it should be like 2 or 4 times the amount of your ram. Does anyone know?

I have 2 gigs of ram and use 1024 paging file.

When I had 1 gig of ram...I still used 1024 paging file.

Many people feel the more ram you have, the LESS paging file you need...and some people with 2 gigs or more even go so far as to use NO paging file at all. I have read this is bad.

If you have at least 1 gig of ram...you'll be fine with 1024.

No more then 2.5 times your physical memory (RAM).

Virtual memory needs to be enabled even on systems using 4GB of RAM because of the way many programs look to the swapfile for data.

The old adage of 2X your RAM is no longer valid because no one needs an 8MB pagefile. A max and min setting of 1024 is adequate for 99.9% of us.
