What is it? When I turn it on it gives quite a bit of performance hit. I still have 35+ fps with it on, but what is it...it doesn't really look any different from ingame 4xAA.

Re: 8xS AA?
I think it's a blend of 4X multisampling and 2X supersampling. Not really true 8X AA. Personally I can see the difference from 4X but I'm VERY picky when it comes to jaggies but I'll admit it's not a massive improvement and 4X is good enough for most. I get such a hit when using it though I have to stay at 4X.

Re: 8xS AA?
8xS AA is not designed for gaming but more for professional rendering.
Expect huge fps hits with this enabled unless you have a top end sytem.

Re: 8xS AA?
If your running at a high resolution, like 1600x, you won't notice a whole lot of differnce with it on versus say, someone running at 640x or 800x, they'll notice a very big change.

Re: 8xS AA?
Super sampling also antialiases alpha textures.
Multi sampling does not.
Alpha textures are textures that have a transparent section you can see through.
They are common seen in things like chain link fences, tree leaves, some ground foliage, etc. Basicaly any texture with a transparent section.
Multi sampling is less expensive performance wise compared to super sampling.
