    Video Card Pipeline Question

I plan on buying a ATI X850XT PCI Express x16 Graphics Card soon. I noticed that it uses 16 pipelines. Do I need to get a certain Motherboard so that the computer will be able to use all 16 pipelines to it's fullest capability, or will any Mobo with a PCI x16 slot do?

    Re: Video Card Pipeline Question

Any one will do just fine. Just by a quality brand name board. Asus, MSI, DFI are all good manufacturers.

                Re: Video Card Pipeline Question

It doesn't matter what kind of motherboard you have...any kind will support as many pipes as you need for your graphics...
As for ATI cards...the Xbox 360 card will have 48 piplines. I wish they would retail that card!

If they ever do better have a rolling armored car with you to be able to pay for it.

I got the cheapest MSI PCI-e Nforce 4 mobo i could find, which was 87 bucks including shipping from newegg.com. Runs my 16 pipeline X800XL great, MSI i find is a very good and trusted company.

Ok, I'm actually not getting this card until december. By then, should I get the GeForce 7800GT or get the ATI R-Series?

Whatever is the best card at the time and within your budget. Suggesting anything else right now is pretty pointless.
