Since my other computer went out i installed my X850XT into another computer. I disabled the onboard gfx and uninstalled it i reboot hook up my x850 to the monitor and the monitor wont turn on! I uninstalled the onboard drivers and everything. The X850XT is running now but it wont show up in the found new hardware. The onboard keeps showing up. I just realized i posted this in the wrong part of the forum. Damn im gone 4 days and i forget where i post.

if you have an onboard video chip, you'll need to go into the bios and disable it.
Most should auto disable, but we all know how reliable this is :p -

You need to check the power supply on the computer. The X8xxx series requires a good amount of power to run.Comment

Ive used a 350 watt before and it worked on that computer. The card runs when its in the AGP slot. Its just the monitor wont turn on even when the onboard is disabled. Any ideas on how to make it work. This is the only card i have that will run BF2! I Cant play BF2 because my other computer is being looked at.Comment

Have you disabled it in the system BIOS.
350W is pretty much the absolute bare minimum you should be running for a card such as that. Have you connected the card up to the molex connector?Comment

Yes. I Hooked it up to my Power Supply and it wont go on. Right now im on my onboard gfx. More or less its the computer. It doesnt recognize my sound card either let alone my gfx card. I installed the latest VIA chipset drivers and did a bios update and it still wont show up. Reason being im missing the smartgart driver.Comment

Do you have another monitor you can test? Perhaps the VGA cable went bad? Also, make sure the pins are clean.Comment

Well the card works in my computer that is being fixed by me. So its either the computer im using temp or its the power supply. On this computer im using now the monitor would not go on. The one being fixed the monitor goes on. It might be a short in the AGP bus of the comp im using i really dont know. Ok i got that sorted out now thanks guys. Now im reinstalling windows XP on my computer that went down. Now it asks for an adminstrator password. How can i obtain one so i can reinstall windows.Comment

what are the specs of the PC? 350w, especially if it's not a good quality, reliable one, is the bare minumum you would want. That may be the cause of it.Comment

Runs BF2 pretty good on medium/high
Shadows and lightning off.
Geometry and effects medium.
Texture high

I reckon it's the PSU, the card isn't even turning on this is why the computer doesn't recognise that it is there and selects the onboard chip..Comment
