    Upgrade Thoughts/Ideas

    Good morning all,

    I was looking for everyone's thoughts and/or ideas for upgrades to my system to really max things out without spending gobs and gobs of money. My current system is as follows:

    Processor: Intel P4 running @ 3.0 GHz
    Memory: 1 GB of DDR SDRAM at 400 MHz
    Video: 128 MB ATI Radeon Pro w/ 5.8 drivers
    HD: 120 GB Ultra ATA at 7200 RPM
    Audio: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
    Drives: 16X DVD-ROM and 48X/24X/48X CD-RW
    Mouse: Logitech MX-518
    Monitor: Sony 19" HS-Series LCD w/ 12 ms response time

    I'm not sure what mobo I am using, since the system is a Dell XPS system from 2003. I'm looking forward to everyon's thoughts/ideas.

      It isn't clear what video card you are using from what you posted. A X800XL or 6800GT would be a nice fit for your processor. Also another 1 GB of RAM would also help tremendously. of course you'll have to find out about whether you have a PCI-E or AGP motherboard, that will determine what video card you can get.

          The video card is in an 8X AGP slot. I don't have any PCI-E slots on my board that I am aware of. Sorry for not putting that in the original post. Also, I am currently using a 450 W power supply. I assume that if I get a newer video card (X800XL of X850XT PE) that I should get a beefier PS.

              I wouldn't touch it if it's working now. This game's so buggy that if you make any changes you run the risk of not being able to play properly, BSoDs and CtD's. Upgrading the powersupply depends on how many peripherals you have ie: HD's, CD/DVD drives, fans, etc. Look at the sticker on the PSU and find out how many amps are on the 12v rail. It should be anywhere from 13A to 25A most likely and anything over 20A is sufficient.

                      ya a vid card would be the major upgrade itlll set u baack some cash but expect ++++FPS/increased rezolution/gfx
