    Need advice

    System Specs:

    Intel Pentium 4 2.8ghz
    1.5GB ram PC 2700 (333mhz)
    Geforce 6600 GT AGP 4x/8x 128MB
    Soundmax Integrated Audio

Well, when i first got my GT installed the guy who installed it forgot to plug in the cards power supply on it. I was getting a message that said the card was gonna be low on the performance because of the power supply, it said that everytime i started the PC up. It doesnt do that now since i plugged the power supply in. Now, i just got done reading a post where it said if you have a 250watt power supply and you have a 6600GT, it will ruin your computer, is this true? My graphics card and PC perform fantastically but now im really worried about this.

Depends on the quality of the PSU, How many amps does it provide on the +12V line?

It also depends on how many peripherals you have. For example: 5 fans, 4 HD's, CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, etc... The less stuff in you machine the more power is in reserve for the card. The video card uses the 12v rail too, so DrunkenPirate's questoin would be where I'd look first.
