    what to do?

ok.. 2 choices on what i should do to upgrade my computer now, or custom build a new one... first i have a dell dimension 3000, 512 ram, 2.4 processor, Fx5500 GfX card.. should i upgrade to 1 gig of ram, and hopfully run bf2 better, or build my own pc.. if i build, AGP or PCI slot.. i dont want to spend tons of money on a new computer .. just something that could give me very good performance on bf2

Build a new one. I used Newegg.com for my last 2 and I haven't had a problem with them. TigerDirect is more expensive in most cases. If you need help, contact me and I will glad to help you get one up and running.

I would start with upgrading your graphics card to a 6800 or better...then the ram later :)

If you are going to get a new board I recommend getting a PCI-E board because if you go AGP now you will be very limited in your upgrade possibilities 2-3 years down the road.
