Is my video card too hot?

I have an MSI 6800 Ultra PCI-E x16, and when running BF2, in my display options > nvidia options > gpu temperature it reads around 73° Celcius. Whenever I go on Everest and look at GPU temp, it says 10° C lower. Is 73° too hot?

In current times 73 is about the maximum, however 2 years I would be freaking out.

thats HOT i would do something about it like if you overclocked it get rid of it. get a PCI slot fan or something. or an aftermarket heatsink. mine right now is at 38 celcius and when playing games goes up to like 50-52 celcius which is cool for a stock fan. what u can also do is get ATI tool and override the fan controlls and increse the power that way it cools better thats what i did.

you should look after that u know once it reaches 100 and above ur card will fry. or metl one of those. even if u have 60-70 thats very hot u cant even touch the card.
and the heat then distributes through the mobmo and the rest of the PC so u got heat everywhere

75-80ºC is about normal when gaming for the 7800 cards you know.
Like I said, If my GeForce DDR did that 3 years ago I would have aimed a fire extinguisher at it.

This is why I'm buying an aftermarket cooling solution.

thats still hot as hell u can burn ur hand if u touched it. but it would transfer heat to the rest of ur PC unless u got a good ventilation system

Damn you guys have hot gpus. My X800 XT runs at 55* C when OCed from 500/500 to 555/610. I'm using a Artic Cooling ATI Silencer 4 rev.2 cooler though.

I overclocked my X800XL to 432/535 for BF2, for othergames i put it up to about 447/569. It still runs real silent even with 100% fan speed. It runs at about 40C with out load, and the hottest it's ever been is 65C.

                            Here comes the n00ber question!:
Without going into the setup screen (prior to OS boot) how can you (fairly quickly) check your card temps? I am running MS XP Pro.
                            thx
