    3200+ or 3500+...worth $33.88

    Is the 3500+ worth the $33.88 price difference? I mean that is like 6 Chipotle burritos right there!

    If you are going to overclock, then no it is not worth it. If you are not going to overclock then it is worth it.

      I find that odd, since if you OC the 3200+ it gets faster, but if you OC the 3500+ it gets faster as well ofcourse. Means the speed difference remains the same, so I don't understand your argument.

      I think if you can spare the money go for it, the price difference is worth the speed difference in the future.

        I would go for the 3500, making sure its a venice core.

        Whether you intend to overclock or not.

          Both will overclock to roughtly the same speed, since they are the same core. Just because it has a higher stock speed doesn't mean it will overclock to any faster.

            The 3800's 11 multiplier may be a substantial advantage if he ends up with an a64/mem/mobo that arent stellar bus speed overclockers.

            Every multiplier is another 200mhz. With 1gb sticks on an a64 there is no guarantee of high fsb's.

            The 3200 has a 10 multi, the 3500 has an 11 multi.

            Say his sticks only want to do around 220 1:1. 220x10=2200mhz, 220x11=2420mhz. It opens up alot of options, sometimes negating the need to run asynch.

              I am planning on overclocking. I have never OCed so I am not familiar with the terminology yet. I have a friend in town that is going to help me out. I am getting the follwing motherboard and memory:

                Indeed, but there is no harm in not running 1:1 on A64 systems, and as I stated before you maximum clock speed will be about the same on either one. As much as A64s like to overclock you would be a fool to stop at 220HTT and not run a divider on the memory if that's as high as your memory would go.

                      Get the chip with the higher L2 Cache and then overclock it. Walla you have a faster chip with higher L2 Cache = better performance.
