A friend recommended this memory for it overclockability (new word!). What's your take? Is it worth the money or should I go with something different?

OCz and crucial tend to have the best memory timings / modules.
Corsair is more of a value, bang for your buck type memory. -

That particular RAM is the PRO version - the stuff with the bigger, solid heatspreader and the LEDs on the top. RAM with lights makes you cool.
I couldn't resist RAM with lights on it when it first hit the market (with the PC3200-C2 Pro) and have never regretted it. Since then, the price difference between the normal XMS and the Pro has increased a bit. The normal Corsair XMS PC3200 XL stuff still has the normal XMS heatspreader, and is the exact same RAM on the inside. If you cant justify the price of the LED bejewled Pro modules, the standard XL modules should be a bit cheaper while maintaining great overclocks/latency.Comment

hahah corsair is not a value memory, Corsairs XMS and OCZ memory modules have both the same 2-2-2-5 timings, either one is good, i got the Corsair and i love it. OC's well too. To me it was worth the money.Comment

Nah, no blue LEDs unfortunately. They act like an audio VU meter, green->yellow->red depeding on memory activity.Comment

If you really want a laugh check out the "XPERT" stuff, it has a programmable, scrolling LED display that you can control with some included Windows software. $$$ though, and I don't think you'd be able to place them side by side in adjacent memory sockets.Comment

Ive owned just about every brand of memory, but I have directly rma'd products to both Corsair and Ocz.
Both companies have been completely flawless and gone the extra mile. If you have issues, they have support forums with company moderators.
Corsair swapped out two good ddr sticks simply because I couldnt get them to obtain the advertised timings on my motherboard. They were otherwise perfectly functional. They didnt even charge me for shipping.
Ocz shipped me a new powersupply priority overnight before I even shipped them my defective one. (ocz 600 powerstream) They also included alot of swag, a Tshirt, led pen, toolkit, ocz ultra 5 thermal compound, and some decals. They paid all shipping costs.
If you deal with these companies, you get what you have paid for.Comment
