      Re: 6800?

The 6800NU is comparable to the 6600GT but at higher resolutions the 6800 will pull ahead slightly.
I would reocmmend stretching out for a 6800GT or X800XL though.

Hey man check out ebay. I just picked up a 6800 GT for $250 off there. Well worth the money I run all high settings except dynamic light and showdows are at medium. At 1024x768.

I'm gonig with newegg and the cheapest 6800GT is $300 I barely have $200 to spend. Would I be better off with the 6600GT?

YES go for the 6800. It is a proven fact that the 6800 outperforms the 6600GT. And BF2 requires 6800 and up to run it on high. I can tell you from experience. I have a 6800, run everything on high (except dynamic lighting, and dynamic shadows) 4x AA at 1024x768. I get 40-50 even over 70 at times, FPS around 30 when the combat is very tough. If you have stuttering problems when you turn around, change the aperature to 512 MB. Are you getting AGP or PCIx? Definetly worth the money, you can also unlock the 4 extra pipes and an extra vertex pixel.

Has 18 more frames than 6600 GT, The 6800 AGP memory bandwith is 22.4 GB/s (what BF2 craves) compared to the 6600 GT PCI 16 GB/s even on the slower bus the 6800 out performs the 6600GT. 6800 also has 406 million verticles a second. 6600GT is considered a mainstream card. The 6800 is considered a high-end card. Overall the 6800 outperforms the 6600GT at almost everything.

Ive got the 128mb agp evga 6800. i unlocked the extra pipes/shaders and overclocked it. my total was $194.00. newegg had it at my door in two days with the regular shipping. i am completely happy with it. i know my rig holds the card back but considering i came from a ati 9700 non pro its a major improvement.

Can you do that with a PCI-E version of the 6800? If not, then the best deal for under $200 is the X800GT.

                          Cheers
