    Overclocking question

    My pc:
3 GHz with HT 500mhz bus
    1 Gig Ram
    9800 Pro

My question is how much would I be able to overlock my 9800 pro without having to buy additional fans/cooling? And is it hard to overlock ?

Also does Hyper Threading do anything at all for games?

On the contrary, I had a 9800pro overclocked to 427MHz core and 374MHz (749MHz DDR) memory for almost 2 years without additional equipment. It's still running at those speeds now in my gf's system.

It is a Hercules 3D Prophet 9800pro and the copper HSF and RAMsinks were enough to sufficiently cool the overclocked card when playing games.

To remove the videos played at the beginning of Battlefield, search the Battlefield 2 General forum, there are many threads that tell you how to and in different ways.

Agreed. A 9800 Pro will usually be able to overclock a noticable amount. Personally, I don't like how hot the things run with their stock cooler at stock speeds though, but then I live in Australia where we can have some nasty summer days...

With a Zalman ZM80D-HP cooler and fan (a monster, and a bit fiddly to fit one the first time you do it), you should be able to push the 9800 Pro beyond 9800XT clocks. The ramsinks in the package seems to make a significant difference to the memory overclock ability, at least on the Powercolor cards I had experience with.
