Building

Hey guys,

I am no expert with computers but after looking at the instructions to build a computer I can pull this off so can someone help me find some parts to build my future computer, I will probably end up building it between October to Christmas but it is kind of nice to have a list now, my budget will be between $1500.00 to $2000.00 Canadian so roughly $1250.00 to $1650.00 American. Although I would like two things as a must in this computer, a 7800GTX and a Thermaltake Tsunami Case (which I can't lay my eyes off), and you guys pick the rest.

And leave out the speakers and monitor!

i dunno FX-57 is the primo processor you can get. but i dont think any games out today cant really utilize dual core. i would go with an FX-57

fx-57 is probably way to expensive, its like 1300 bucks canadian, I think i might go for something around 4000+ or something im not really sure but can somone make me a list?

i have a 3200+ and it runs fine but it will probably bottleneck your GFX card

yeah i heard that usually u need a 3500 or greater to run the 7800gtx

Nah, not really, you could get a 2800+ Sempron and it would bottleneck your 7800GTX by at most 3 fps on games. Anyways here are some specs i'm not sure about the money.

CPU: 3200+ or more, i wouldn't recommend P4, cause all they do is run benchmarks better.
Hard Drive: You got a lot of money, at least 160GB, i got my 250gb hard drive for 125 bucks from newegg.com, but i understand you are in canada, and there are no such deals.
Memory: At least 1Gb, i would reccomend at least 1.5 gb though, go for good ones like Crucial Ballistix, or Corsair XMS xpert.
Sound Card: Since you got the money, go for at least a Audigy 2 if you are going to get a sound card at all.
Video Card: 7800GTX, cause you said so.
PSU: at least like 450 watts from a good name, like Antec, or OCZ.

I duno the prices in canada so i can't pick for ya, I got my new rig for 934 US dollars, it's real nice, and real cheap.

2800+ Sempron <--- is a buisness computer not made for games guy , if u want to get a not so expeive processor thats good performence you should get a AMD 64 xt / pro / pci-e

No, no no no, you got sempron and Opteron mixed up. THe equivelent of a sempron from intel is a Celeron D, or a 32 bit P4. The equivelent of an Opteron is a Intel Xeon. Opteron=workstation, Sempron=regular PC. Sempron is only 32 bit.

im thinking i might go for 2 74gig raptors and raid 0 them which i heard is for better performance

i have 2 100 gigs in Striipe for data storage. and 2 40 gigs in mirror for My OS its a pretty kickin setup
