Hi all, I am currently running a DELL 2.26Ghz Processor.
I want to upgrade to a faster processor and buy more memory as I only have 512Mb at the moment.

How can I tell the max speed processor my motherboard can take etc?

From what i know and(im no expert) you cant up grade your processor, i hear the motherboards are proprietry and its difficult to change it.

The only way you can tell if you mobo can support other CPU is looking at your mobo and finding out what socket it has. You then have to look and see if there are any better CPU with that same socket.

What Model Dell Do You Have? And Yes you may find it cheaper elase where, Mine is pc 1066 and you have to replace it in pairs.

You shouldn't feel bad. Yours is cheap in comparison to mine. Dell 8250 check it out. 1Gig $489.98

You could overclock your processor, but it is a long and risky process which also viods the warranty.

Again, get more ram. Make sure you get the right speed!
