I need help so when I get me x800xl

Yeah so I just bought me a x800xl :p and when it gets here I want to know what the hell to do so... Right now I have a 9800pro with the 5.6 omega drivers, since both cards are ati cards do I need to clean up my drivers before I install the x800xl or after? or do I not need to clean up my video drivers?
What about my sound card drivers, do I need to clean those then reinstall them again? Anything else i need to know about. Yeah, I'm a ati fan boy

I would say you need to do this:

    1) Uninstall the old drivers from your computer BEFORE you remove your card.
    2) Remove your old card and put in the new one.
    3) Use a driver cleaner program to delete all the old drivers from your system.
    4)Install the new drivers :)

          I'd offer an extra step.
1.) go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall All ATI programs. MM, Catalyst control, and Display driver
2.) reboot into safe mode and use Driverclean to remove any remnents. empty wastebasket
          3.) turn off machine and replace 9800 w/ x800xl
4.) turn on machine and place driver disk into CD/DVD while POSTing.
5.) install new drivers and enjoy.

If a guy died from playing a PC game, I'm sure I could find some way to kill you over thses forums.

Yeah, Snake got it right.... when I installed my X800 XL, here are the exact steps I took:

-Uninstalled everything related to ATI via Control Panel
-Downloaded Catalyst 5.7 drivers (so that I could install them after putting the card in) (Just download like the 5.8 drivers or whatever you'd like to use... don't install the drivers that come with the video card's CD, because they're probably old... or crappy... or both!l)
                -Shut down PC
                -Took out 9800 PRO
-Installed power supply + video card (make sure your PSU is 300w or more - else you'll need to buy a better one like me to get it to work properly)
                -Turned on PC
                -Installed 5.7 Catalysts
                -Restarted PC
-Tested if it detected the X800 XL as the new card by using DXDIAG - it did.... job done!

Good luck with your new card... hope you like it as much as I do! :)
