Will upgrading from 512MB RAM to a gig make loading times faster?

oh , same one as me ! but i don´t see much of a diference with AA on
i play at 1024 x everything but the textures on high

The difference is the Buildings (Rought edges) everything is smoother.
If you put all to medium, there is that much difference in High or Medium...but if it all runs on High with AA on, all the better! :)

AA does degrade performance somewhat but not as much as textures or dynamics would. I personally like AA on 2x and that is good enough for me :)

yeah it is i like ot make believe i get like 50 fps anyways even in arty strikes.

I would tend to think that 256MB of ram wouldn't create 20 min. loading times :)

Something that's plagued me since BF1942 was that loading screens take waaaay too long on my desktop. On my laptop, which has all-around lower specs than my desktop (Mobility Radoen 9700 = ) excluding having a gig of RAM, loading screens go *MUCH* faster. So does RAM really have that great of an effect on BF42/V/2?

Also, on a side note, something that really pisses me off is that when you finish a round of a map, it brings you back to the "Join Game" screen. Of course I want to join the game! I'm already in it! Anybody know some option hidden in a CON file that lets you not have to go through that?

I upgraded and loading times became slightly shorter. However, upgrading to 1 Gig makes the gameplay considerably smoother so it's definitely been worthwile for me :-)

I don't know if this is still of interest (didn't read the whole thread) but I can recommend anyone to get at least 1 gb of ram into your pc. A clean WinXP pc with Battlefield 2 running needs approx. 800-900 mb of ram. If you can provide only 512 windows has to use the swap file on your hard disk which is MUCH slower and can cause very annoying, periodical jerks in game (as well as longer load times)

Yes 1 Go is the key to have a smooth game, but remember to defrag your hard drive correctly, it will improve perfs because of the swap file.
I use diskeeper , that is much more better than standard windows tool.
