    Will upgrading from 512MB RAM to a gig make loading times faster?

    Something that's plagued me since BF1942 was that loading screens take waaaay too long on my desktop. On my laptop, which has all-around lower specs than my desktop (Mobility Radoen 9700 = ) excluding having a gig of RAM, loading screens go *MUCH* faster. So does RAM really have that great of an effect on BF42/V/2?

    Also, on a side note, something that really pisses me off is that when you finish a round of a map, it brings you back to the "Join Game" screen. Of course I want to join the game! I'm already in it! Anybody know some option hidden in a CON file that lets you not have to go through that?

          I went from 1 gig to 1.5 gig and I don't even get a chance to run for food between maps!

            Wewt, then it sounds like I have something to buy.

            (Now if only my Athlon XP had SSE2 and I could get OS X running... oh well.)

              I currently have a gig of PC3200 hyperX on a 3.2ghz machine and a 9800pro. I'm usually one of the first ones in a map after a load and probably about halfway accross a map by the time it starts to fill up.

              I used to run 2gigs and it was even a little faster but i needed that extra gig for my Media Center.

                same here with my gig, got plans for 2. new processor just arrives, 64 bit 3700+ baby. RAM is where all the power of loading stuff goes. ;

                BTW the loading game thing is because some people want to check the scores and stuff, thats why thats there. I think clicking autojoin gets rid of that, but im not sure.

                  I recently upgraded from 1gb to 2gb. I went from being one of the last ones to join servers to one of the first. RAM upgrades do wonders for this game.

                      I've had a gig since I've had the game and my loading times were terrible. I turned down the textures to medium and now it loads twice as fast. It's cool being one of the first people on the map, much easier to get whatever vehicle I want. I don't even notice much of a difference in texture quality going from high to medium.

                        One thing that also helps is a couple of fast disks in Raid 0

                          To be honest...there is VERY little difference between HIGH & MEDIUM settings.
                          The best Video option is the AA.
                          Best to go with Medium and turn your AA on.
