Sound Card issues.

Today playing around with my sound in BF2, I have this option "X-Fi". I click on it, and see these special logos from Creative labs "Sound Blaster X-Fi" and "EAX advanced HD"

My sound card has EAX advanced HD, but not X-Fi (Confused which cards do) So, anyways I press "Apply", then I get a message "Your sound hardware is incompatable with the settings...." I put all back to default, but I am now left with EAX, and not EAX advanced HD. Selecting hardware, or software, (low, medium, high). All the same. I do see this "Ultra-High", which I am unable to select, and the text is in red. I have it on the default, "Software, and at medium" I did install the latest updates. Still the same.

How can I get the use of EAX Advanced HD in BF2?

My soundcard is a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 value (24bit)

I'm having the same problem with an Audigy 2 ZS.

I had the May 12th drivers. I just tried the older April 5th Beta's. I get the same problem with both.

Still looking for a solution here.

creative has not yet released its newest sound card which use x-fi, its on their website so check it out, as far as using advanced hd, ive kinda wondered the same thing

The Audigy 2 ZS has EAX Advanced HD. That's why they advertise it with BF2. The problem is in the drivers.

EAX Advanced HD is also on the Audigy 2 Value card. I am surprised I do not get this option in BF2.

In BF2 Audio options, what is the difference with selecting "Hardware", or "Software"? To me, the do the same.

"Software" uses the CPU to process the sounds, "Hardware" uses the soundcards onboard chipset. If you have onboard audio you should select "Software", if you're using a PCI sound card such as an Audigy 2 series you should select "Hardware" this will free up the processor a bit.

I've heard people who are selecting Hardware with an Audigy 2 ZS are getting sound issues; no matter what drivers they use.

I have mine set to Software and High, but I did switch it to Hardware for a second. I didn't listen long enough, but I think it might have been worse than software :cry:

I use hardware and medium with an Audigy 2 ZS and never have an issue. Although Creative isn't known for having the best drivers.

Any reason why you use Medium as opposed to High, with Hardware?

Nope. I can set it to high. I had set it to medium while testing how changes affect FPS rates ingame. I just never put it back.

Get the OPEN AL drivers and install/uninstall previous drivers EXACTLY like the man says using the utility in your Creative folder. DONT use windows uninstaller or you will lose the functionality of some of the Creative programs.

Do it just like he instructs and you will be loving life.

I have an Audigy 2 value and its set to high with no problems.
