Anyone play with a Geforce 5500?

My friend is picking this card up for cheap and I wanted to know if anyone is able to play BF2 with this card and what settings they use?

    Anyone?

never heard of that card before actually. Is it better or worse than the 5700? (numbers dont always mean a whole lot)

Yeah, it's pretty rare, I hadn't heard about it till my friend told me. The online reviews place it better than a 5200 but worse than a 5600/5700. I just want to know how well it does in BF2 (which the reviews don't say).

lol better than a 5200 isnt saying much. even the 5700 isnt that great. If he could afford a 9800Pro id urge him to go with that. How much is he spending on this card anyways?

I use the fx 5500, works fine for me. not great but as long as I can play bf2 I am happy.

Edit: my setting is on none, that is the option just below low. thats the only way my dell can handle it.

i use the 5500 256mb pci oc, i have textures, geometry, and effects on high, all else off or low, res on high as possible, distance at 100%, less lag now that i installed a new heatsink, and i think the 77.77 nvidia drivers, runs fine

At 10 fps. anyways my friend had that card he plays on low don't know about his fps but i'm sure they are low. If the card ain't $20 it ain't cheap, don't get it.

                    I use a PNY fx5500, 128mb agp 8x, o/c'd with RivaTuner.

I run most on medium, and get decent fps. In CS:S I'm getting 60-90fps average. The card is a step up from the 5200, but less of a card than the 5700... Its relatively cheap...if that's all he can afford it'll do the job...

But as others suggested, if you can afford more, go for it. One option is the refurbs on newegg.com, guaranteed and newegg just flat out pwns...

Don't check it! If you like how it plays... you will just start hating it when you see the low fps. I used to like how my fx5200 played on medium untill i seen i was getting like 12 fps, I used to like how my 9800pro played on high untill i seen I was getting frame drops to the low 20's... now im shopping around for a x800xl
