look in your bios, if the mobo is less than 3 years old you'll probably have it..

No that is your AGP Apature. Which should be set to 128MB.

The AGP setting can be found in your ATI Control Panel under the name "SmartGART".

To get to the ATI Control Panel:
Start > Control Panel > Appearence and Themes > Settings > Advanced


Also because you are switching video card companies don't forget to uninstall AND CLEAN your old drivers, or there will be conflicts!

Ok, My Agp Goes UpToo 4X...The card states 4x/8x. doesnt that mean either?

Yes, however 4x will be a huge choake on the cards true performance because it has 1/2 the bandwidth that 8x has. This means that data cannot flow from the motherboard to the card and back as fast, and thus the card's full performance maynot be put to use.

I would recommend a 256 MB 6800GT if you can afford the price difference.

If you are running on an older system and are planning on upgrading in the near future, then don't bother spending the money on a 6800, you won't get the full speed out of it, maybe go for a 6600 GT AGP instead.

4x AGP isn't going to affect you much at all. People always think that since 4x is half of 8x that it's half the speed which isn't true. Do some research and you'll see. You only see roughly a 2-3% increase going from 4x to 8x.

Yeah...jbean is right. You won't see THAT much of a performance decrease. At least I don't think...but then again I don't know too much about AGP speeds

I have the same card and it was huge going from 5200 128mb to the card in question. I overclocked it and can run mostly high settings. But it is true- if u can afford a higher end card do it! If you get the card- Make sure if you overclock it, check your temp on card! If you need too, buy an aftermarket cooler for it! Mine runs a bit warm (66c), but im planning on building a new system if it craps out! Check out screens on overclocked 6800 128mb......


Im also running P4 2.6 ht, 1536 DDR ram at 333mhz, and alot of after market cooling and case cooling by Zalman temps under load on cpu at 50c and mother board at 46c. I know, nothing special, but to convert the gateway gamer (under $950.00) and spending an extra $400.00 for cooling and ram and graphics, i think it rocks! oh and i picked up a HP f1703 17' monitor for free to fix backlight issues w/ $8.00 soldering gun by resoldering the boards!

Got it running @ 401/1101 just a hair above Ultra Speeds. I'm stable up to 420/1140 but in the summer I keep it lower because of heat.
