    Help upgrading/tweaking laptop

Hi quite new to pc gaming as I got a laptop ready for uni and my xbox live subscription ran out so it seemed a logical change. Now I know laptops aren't as easy to upgrade and you never get as much bang for your buck as you do with a pc but I need the mobility at times.

Basically I was just wondering what I could do to upgrade that wouldn't be too expensive.
    Current Specs:
    AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+
    512 DDR RAM
    Windows XP
    ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI-E 128mb Graphics
    80GB HDD

Was thinking maybe buy a gigs worth of RAM on one stick and put it in one of my 2 banks to add to one of the 256sticks if possible and maybe another gig down the line as this will no doubt be the most improvement for the least money.
Also keep reading about overclocking but not sure if it';s ossible on a laptop due to cooling or whatever but I would apreciate it if one of you guys/gals could point me in the right direction of what to do it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

You seem to be headed down the right path. More RAM and a new video card wouldn't hurt you. But then cooling may become an issue. Cooling is always an issue with laptops with high-end equipment just because of the heat it produces. So overclocking is almost definately out of the picture.

indeed, squeeze as much ram as you can into that little fart....i recomment 2 gig sticks, dont mix ram with your existing 256 sticks, it could cause problems....been there done that...

Ok guys cheers. WIll probably get a 1gig stick of ram for now and take both others out then for now and then get another gig when funds permit.
Is it possible to change a laptop graphics card yourself or would it be best to go to a shop and get them to do it? Can you reccommend any better cards.

Having said this though how long will the proccessor last for as I don't want to spend all this cash only to have it outdated very soon as I think the 3000+ is only 1.8ghz and with overclocking out the question just wondering how soon it wil be outdated as a 1.8 is the minimum for BF2 I believe so will newer games not require more?

        Thanks for all the help.

Also I thought the X700 was a good card but maybe I'm wrong how long should it last me?
