Just remember, you get what you pay for. I've been down that road with cases before. I would never underpay for a case again. I cheaped out with my last computer, but for the one I just built I got a really nice case, granted I paid $100 for it, but it was well worth the money.

Also remember heat issues. The better ventilation the case has, the cooler your computer will run. Also the hardware should have some form of cooling as well, generally you will want heatspreaders on your RAM for a gaming machine. Again the cooler the better.

Whatever you do, get 2 gigs of memory. Even if it has to be cheap "value" memory, the 2 gigs will make any system you build run BF2 butter-smooth. I went from 1 Gig to 2 Gig on a High-end homebrew system and it made a MASSIVE difference in gameplay and stability. It'll be about an extra $90 for the extra gig of cheap RAM, about $125 for the good stuff. Either one is well worth the money and will allow your WHOLE SYSTEM to run better. Its the best upgrade you can do, even if you are building a new rig.

your ram should be PC3200 400mhz with case of at least 2.5 with timings of at least 3-6-6 (lower the better)...

for $1000 you aint going to get DDR2, and thats good mid-range. Anything slower and...bleugh
