New Computer with no sound? "HELP PLEASE"

Ok this Computer was built by licensed professionals of mine. I know it's not
a build issue, all I had to do is install Windows XP Pro on the computer. I had no problem with that. As Windows was setting up I rembered that you can plug you speakers into the slot and hear music on the windows setup. Well i didn't hear anything at all, so I thought humm maby all i need to to is she up the driver properly. Windows XP Pro, states "Your device is working properly." well I went "Google" and typed Windows sound drivers in and go to Mirosofts hame page searched there and could not find anything also went to ASUS.COM and couldn't find any thing there eather.
Im I missing a step in installing windows? I went to the driver and tryed to update online with it, it said it couldn't find anything at this time.

Simple solution get a sound card? Could that be a option? Only thing is I have to wate untill friday payday to do so. I would rather have a QUICK FIX for now so I can hear me enemy die.:laugh:

You might want to try and reinstall the driver, it should be on one of the cd's that came with the pc, i had a similar problem and that cleared it up 4 me.

This was a PC i got with no O.S.
I think i found what i need and it's free. This what my mobo has REALTEK Sound Card ALC655 A3.52

i hope when i go home it's this.

Check it for viruses before you use it, and did you get a cd that came with your mobo? this might have a driver on it aswell.

Hehe i just turned the thing on for the first time yeasteday i can have a virous LOL

you will problably have to reinstall the realtek drivers.

Nforcers HQ would be a great place for you to find specific instructions. I would talk you through it, but I dont have time this weekend.

Q4: I have checked all my settings. My mixer is fine. My speakers are fine. The NV control panel shows audio being played but I still can't hear anything... help me?

A: Check the fpaudio1 connector on the motherboard. Although it is technically a connector some of those pins need to be connected via a jumper. This can also cause audio missing from single channels too at times. It should look like:

: = open/no jumper
| = jumper
. = single pin to prevent backwards hookup

A: Some people have had trouble with grounding issues... try using your motherboard outside of your case or putting paper between teh motherboard and whereever it contacts anything.

Ok problem fixed.

Went out and got a sound card with drivers on cd and quick for cheep $30.00 Thanks for all the help people, see or now i'll hear you die on the battle feild soldger! : )
