Building a computer, need help.

I put together this system based on advice from people on this forum:

Case

Motherboard

Graphics Card

Power Supply

Memory

Processor

I would like to hear any of your opinions on this system.

1. Will these components work together? I already have a couple hard drives (7200rpm) that I will be using.

2. Will this system work well for playing BF2?

3. Will this system have longevity?

4. Is the price for this system ($835 with shipping) relatively economical? (i.e. bang for the buck)

5. What is the over clocking potential with this system?

Also, I have never put together a computer before however I have change out components, installed windows many times, etc. Is the process of putting together a computer fairly straight forward or are there pitfalls I should be aware of. Thank you in advance!

I'd get a different case, that one looks kinda cheap..

Motherboard is good, video card is good (and since you have an SLi motherboard, you could always buy another 6800GT when you are looking to upgrade), power supply is good, memory is ok (I would suggest 2 gigs), processor is ok (should get at least a 3200 but if you on a tight budget it's fine)

1) Yes the components will work together

2) Yes it will work well for BF2, especially if you get 2 gigs of ram instead of 1.

3) Yes it will have some longevity because you are going with the SLi, so if you happen to come across some money you could go with 2 7800's and be set for the next 5+ years.

4) I dunno this one..

5) No clue bout overclocking.

What is your target price? I will see what I can come up with. The case is iffy, only because of airflow issues (or so it would seem).

Yes they would all work together, yes they would play on probably medium/high to high graphics. The only thing I might consider adding is an Audigy2 ZS sound card, it may push you slightly over budget but it would help the system out.

Longevity, 1-2 years before a slight upgrade with graphics and processor (perhaps memory too).

Yes its a pretty good deal for a really decent computer.

But as I said, if I were you, I would look into a different case. People tend to cheap out on their case. I used to, until I bought my most recent (Aspire X-Navigator). It is important because of airflow, and easy of access. I just pop a side panel off, and I have removeable drive cages, etc. right there, along with hot-swap CD-ROMs, and plenty of fans to keep the air circulation (which is key).

I've heard that the X800 XL runs Battlefield 2 better than the 6800 GT (lots of stutters from the GT) and it's also cheaper (in most cases) as well.

Or you can get a X800 XT for just around $250 dude...

~dont know about navigator but the alien has good airflow, BUT, i would never get it again because of the horrible noise and crappy aluminum case.

PITFALLS: i had changed out components, installed windows..etc and thought i could handle it. nope.. i put everything together, hooked up all cables and such and then couldnt get windows to install, gave me a bunch of errors and i gave up and took it into the local computer shop. after about 5 or 6 repairs and $400 down the drain i found out the hard drive was faulty. The MB also had some problems. It was a good experience, but i think that next time i'll either have somebody help me each step of the way or go someplace like www.ibuypower.com (ive heard good things about them.. theyre very reasonable)
