maybe u havent read everything, cause ATI catalyst comes in the windows dvd and nvidia released it only after it came out.

there is no such thing as drivers for vista.
programs like games and stuf will work under vista, no problem at all, even with older drivers.

                BUT
for the full feature of vista, you will need
                - a new videocard
                - a new monitor

if you are freaking out now reading this, just read some artikels (on the inquirer of something) , windows vist is going to take are freedom away and will take the money out of our pockets guys, it's is going to be the end of normal pc's

how are u able to run a game on vista? I mean it cant support **** when it comes to drivers for any other hw. u cant expect more since it's a beta. but I'm curious how u can run any game other then like reverseri on it when it cant install and use any vital hw to run a game.

I haven't tried to run it yet, I've gotta get an network driver first, I like the feel of Vista though

Don't worry, for Protected Digital Media, such as a HDCP protected HD 1080i video, you will need a HDCP compliant monitor with a HDCP capable video card to play it. I doubt companies would even add this content protection because almost 0% will have it and they would lose their ratings. If you don't it will downgrade the picture resolution to 480p. This only applies to Protected Digital Media. Although all the hardware vendors know this and are ultimately screwing you over until this stupid new OS comes out.

Perhaps some research on the subject is in order before you start stating absolutes like that.

Re: Battlefield 2 and Windows Vista beta?

Here is what I think of Vista and by no means do I intend this to sound conceted in Holier than thow sort of way... So please don't take it that way.

MS is crying over gamers and hackers constantly taking their OS without paying for it. Thus I think this new Vista OS will be designed to report back to the MS servers which machines are legit and which have a pirated version of the software AND then blocking them from getting any updates.
They are already doing this but I suspect that they will bump it up a notch and try to use this OS to physically find you in some weird way so that they can press charges and use some people as an example to others in hopes that it will deterr further piracy. MS keeps waging war on software piracy so my take on it all (and it's the same take I've taken with every OS I've installed)

I WILL WAIT UNTIL IT'S BEEN AROUND FRO A FULL YEAR BEFORE EVEN TOUCHING IT :)

Until I see and read otherwise, I don't think Vista is worht an entire Reformat and reinstall just to get some Eye Candy.
