Thanks Eddy, I swear I read it on a review as well. It was kinda outdated so maybe they hadn't done it and were just using some wishful thinking.

Thanks again for everyone who helped with this question. I'm going to watch the prices on the x800XL.

Ok, i forgot you only have AGP as the cheap X800XLs on newegg.com are PCI-e. Here's a good link:

This is one from ATi itself, so the warranty should be good. It's not that much more than a X800Pro. And it's retail not OEM, not that it matters much, but it might to you. unless you unlock the pipes on the X800Pro, the X800XL is definetly going to be giving you better performance than the X800Pro. I have this card, i OCed it to 430/1080, so it's a good overclocker. I run on all high with 6xAA temporal AA (chose from the ATi multimedia center instead of the BF2 options, you get better fps and better quality AA) so aka that means max settings. I think if you have the money you should get this thing, it's real good, or if you like nVidia, you could get a 6800GT 300 bucks, but the X800XL is neck-neck with it in almost all games except Doom3. I hope you make the right choice.

the 9600pro only has 4 pipes right. if your going to mod it to 16 pipes make sure its the x800pro vivo version so all you have to do is reflash the bios. the non-vivo version which is what i got only has 12 pipelines.

I'm watching the price on the XL using pricegrabber.

Current bottom line price (OEM as well)
