    Most expensive GFX Card Ever

You want the BEST? Then go with an Nvidia Quadro series if you got $2,000-$9,000 to burn :p

3DMark doesnt mean jack ****...We need real-time BF2 knowledge here =)

Both ATI and nvidia cards work fine here, though nVidia's cards are somewhat future proof with actual pixel SM 3.0 support.

      Recommendations:

nVidia: 6800 GT (300 USD in some locations), 6800 Ultra (high rumor says there will be a AGP brigde for the 7-series)
      ATI: X800XL, X850

I will laugh at anyone who buys that card to game with. Its made for graphic editing programs, not for gaming. You would be very sad with the experience in game with that card.

They are for workstations, stuff like EA uses to develop games. Not to play games on.

so is it worth it to invest in the future and go with a nvidia 6800GT card that doesnt give out as good as the ati x800xl or ati x850xt? I mean I dont want a card that's not good now for the current games I play but will support something furure games will, like the nvidias. or am I wrong? the 6800GT gives as much eye candy and performance as the ati cards?

No, No, no, the X800XL>X800pro, X800Pro=higher clock speeds, X800XL=more pipelines, the X800XL wins, i did a lot of research on this when buying my new comp, i almost got the X850pro, but it was only 12 pipelines, plus X800Xl is better in all benchmarks

Actually the X800XL is argueably the best Bang for the buck right now. And it'll play BF2 1280x1024(not supported) 1280x960 all high 4xaa easily
