    New sound card?

I'm a cheap bugger and have onboard sound.

I get milisecond lags just as the arty sound kicks in. Absolute pain in the ass. Got me killed loads of times (the lag, not the arty)!

You guys reckon its my onboard sound, or a common problem? (got latest drivers etc, and the games runs smooth at all other times)

    Thanks.

yup, so many poeple cheap out on their sound card, but what they don't realise is this game was made to use the latest technologies both graphically and audibly as well. So a SB! Live24 will not cut it. Get an Audigy2 chip.

I have SB Live! and not only does my game sound great on 5.1 surround sound speakers, but I have almost no lag in game and running 75-100 FPS on high settings.

the Live 5.1 is good, but I recently saw a live 24bit. These are ok for cheaper prices, but people dont realize that audio is more important than visual especially when working with 5.1 sound. This is because the screen is only infront of you wereas the speakers are all around you in a 5.1 or greater system. If you are running 5.1, I would recommend the Audigy 2. If you are using a 3.1 or below system, its not needed as much, but the Audigy 2 is still nice to have. None the less, I wouldnt settle for onboard sound for two reasons.
            1) Robs more cpu power, which leaves less power for the game
            2) Doesn't sound as good

So really you gain two advantages from getting an add on card. Sound cards arent expensive either, so look into one
