how well will this computer run bf2?

    3200+ (overclocked to 3800 level)
    6800GT 256mb DDR3
    1 gig ram

presuming all settings are maxed except anti-aliasing or whatever it is.

Also, I hear many people bragging about having dual 7800's and 4800+ with like 4 gig ram or something absolutely rediculous like that. Surely getting something that good is going to cost hundreds or even thousands more, and it can't make that much improvement can it?

I mean, this computer is above what most people have right?

It'll run. Maybe 1204x768 maxed out maybe slightly higher. Who knows. You're kinda skimped on RAM there.

why would you need more than 1 gig ram though? also I only want to play 1024x768 btw

BF2 with everything on absolute high (and 1600X1200) uses about 1.2 gigs of RAM in total.

I have nearly a similar rig, and I run at 1024X768 with everything on medium, geometry+terrain on high and Anti Aliasing at 6X. I can go to high with the other things, but I've had a few severe slowdowns on maps like Clean Sweep.

gee, must be a pretty demanding game. I thought my rig was pretty top end I mean it can run source and SWAT 4 and any other game real smooth.

But I guess bf2 would be demanding with the massive maps and all the action and vehicles.

... because the game uses more. It's getting to the point where 1 gig of ram is minimal.

You have a quality rig. BF2 is just a RAM hog - bad coding. Don't fret, your rig is fine, bf2 is not.

Don't upgrade, to 1gb, its not worth losing the OC.

Espesially when you spend all that money just to find out BF2 has some sort of conflict & crashes all the time.
