A few questions regarding purchasing a new computer

Okay, first off, hello. My current computer is horrible, I mean it is BAD! Upgrading it would be redundant. I have been saving money for months, and am looking to purchase a new computer, solely for gaming; to be honest, just so I can play this game. I have a few questions.

1. AMD or Intel?

2. ATI or NVIDIA?

3. AGP or PCI Express?

I may have more questions, and any help is appreciated.

Buy the bits, build it, if you have no experience of building PCs just post about on forums a bit, it's like lego but with wires :P

Yeah I'd go for an AMD processor, they don't last quite as long as P4s as they run hotter overall, but they tend to just about beat most P4s on gaming performance and they are a hell of a lot cheaper.

NVIDIA cards are good, the radeon 9800 had a bit of an edge when it came out, but the new NVIDIA range are better, and the driver sets are much better (i.e. no crazy gamma problems like my ATI card...)

Go for PCI express, or you won't be upgrading any time in the future :P

You need a computer for something else? Always asess everything you need from it.

In the case of gaming, AMD is the way forward.....the 3500 is a good one for oomph per buck. Dont rule out Intel tho, an overclocked Pentium M is currently the gaming daddy and only uses up to 50watts of power.

Nvidia's are the best for BF2. Not by much. ATi will be anouncing a new one soon.
Budget = 6600GT
Decent = 6800GT
Top Dog = 7800GTX

FYI. The new AMDs run cooler than P4s and use less power.
