New Rig

Hey guys,

I just bought BF2 a few days ago, and its a truly awesome game...but since I have a trillion year old computer, I really can't get the sense of immersion I hoped for (what with the continuous pain of LAG). So I decided to search around for a computer around the £1k mark that would run the game decently.

Is this PC from MESH a good decision or is there any other rigs that offer better value for money? Would the 256Mb X800XL PCI-e a run the game on decent graphics?

it's good i guess, but i think you could get a comp with the same specs far cheaper if you built it yourself... and if I were you i'd go with a nvidia card, preferrably the 6800 ultra or gt, mainly because of SM3.0... you might not notice a difference now, but in 6 months or a year you'll be happy that you chose a card with SM3.0...

If you're not lazy, you should do some hard research for a couple days finding the best bang for the buck parts, find a good online retailer or store that sells for cheap and build it yourself. You will feel so much better that you got a good deal and will have confidence in buying your next computer in the future.

a grand on a rig that costs you about 600 self building..

You could get a pretty awesome rig with names for the same price.

Look at my specs, you could get basically the same rig as me + a 7800gt then you can OC to about 2.4ghz which is faster than the machine you linked to, and no you wont be able to OC that. Then you have one kick ass awesome rig without any of the no-name ****.

You discuss with me what you want, you give me the money, I order, build then ship it to you and you pay me like 50 quid ontop and then you're getting exactly what you want for less and you know you wont have any no-name crap. I'd even do overclocking for you if required. I'd update, test and optimise drivers for you aswell.

If you live remotly near leicester I'd probably deliver it by hand or somthing.
