In addition to the two main speakers that all headphones contain, there are also two smaller speakers to the left and right (or front and back, however you want to consider it) of each of the main speakers. The front two speakers perform the duties of the center channel, higher frequency or voice. The two main speakers take care of the left and right channels, and the rear two speakers handle the surround channels.
