x800xl vs xt

have you got a link for x800xl vs x800xt?

and what kind if performance gap does the higher clock speeds offer

ive seen the xl compete with the x850xt with nearly the same frame rates it was only when you got to the high frame rates (1600x1200 etc) which there was a considerable gap

im not planning on going over 1024x768 on any game so would the higher clock speed really benefit my gameplay

the xt costs on average 30% more does it give 30% better performance

I've not seen a direct comparison, but I'm willing to bet it all that you're not going to see a 30% increase in performance. Not too mention the X800XL maybe be the fastest component and getting the X850XT won't do much good if your CPU becomes the bottleneck.

On a side note. My specs are in my sig. and I'm trying to justify getting the 4400 X2. Do you guru's see me getting an increase in performance over my current setup or does my 64 3000+ compliment the XL? Thanks. Don't mean to steal your thread.

ATI X800XL is more or less underclocked X850XL and it has nearly identical specs. It doesn't have power cable connector though, so you don't get same clockspeeds that X850XT has. The X800XT on the other hand is older technology, it's clocked higher than X800XL, but has fewer pipelines.

A64 3000+ should perform nicely with X800XL. If you upgrade to 4000+ it becomes a bottleneck, though.

XT does not have less pipelines, both have 16. The XT gives from 5-15% more frames per second for an extra $100-200. The choice is yours, but my XL runs BF2 without any problems at very nice settings.

For gaming, you are better off getting a higher clock-speed chip like the 4000+ than the X2. If you use your rig for other tasks like MP3 ripping, Photoshop, DVD burning, etc, go with the X2, it'll boost everything else except the games.

The X800 Xl and XT both have 16 pipes, the X800 Pro is a 12 pipe card. The XT is clocked higher than the XL, so its essentially the same card tuned down a bit. I'd avoid the X800 Pro and either get the X800 XL for around $250 or the X800XT for around $350.

Personally, I'd get the X800XT if I didn't already have it ;-)
