I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI with Dual 6600gt Gpus 256bit mem.
Amd 3800 64 bit, 1 gig ram. Am I rongh to think this should rip through bf2.
I think I have tried everything but not a diferent video card?
Any one have same sys. And same problem.

dual 6600 GTs plus the rest of your system is very nice. Should run BF2 AT LEAST on high quality

So ... do they run together? As in, say one 6600 ran at 400/800 (hypothetically speaking), would two of them run at 800/1600? Do they split the load or does one of them do most of the work? Do you need special software or a special mobo to run dual vid cards?

I'm jealous... and interested...

I've done extensive testing with respect to ram requirements. 1.5 gigs of ram will result in very minor studdering when first entering a map, but will work fairly well after that. 2 gigs of ram with result in 100% smooth gameplay. 1 gig of ram results in undesirable studdering.

There is no debate so please don't flame, or post missinformation. I'm just posting factual information.

You need an NF4 motherboard for their SLI ability. Also it only works with Nvidia cards, too. But that said, you could hook up two 512mb 6800 GT DDLs... and get a gig of VRAM

I agree with scott here i have 3 computers and only run bf2 on 2 of them because 1 only has 1Gb of ram. I have 1.5Gb in 1 and 2Gb in the other. they both run the game really well. The 2Gb one is usually the first onto a map so i can get wot transport i want and head off.

I run an A64 3000+, 1GB@400, and a 6800 standard. I have all settings on High except for the lighting and shadow settings which are set to Low. I also run 4x AA. I don't see much of a difference between Low and Medium on the light and shadow settings. There's definitly a difference on High, but most cards today get crushed by extensive shadow and lighting. I get rock solid framerates with my setup, but I've tweaked my system fairly well.

I for one don't think anyone needs 2GB to run this game with great framerates. Only occasionally do I get a little stuttering when first spawning on a new map. After a couple of seconds all is smooth.

Go to a tweaking site and take a few hours to optimize your system...you might be able to see a difference.

EDIT: I too am almost always 2nd or 3rd into the game.

Ok this website is very good for you XP guys out there, the guy who runs it, is very much a loner anywho.....what he explains about the processes running in XP and what one to disable or shutdown is excellent. NB:-requires reading!
