sound vanishes?

    sound vanishes?

    this may sound weird but one second i was having sound because i listened to music then i go to my computer and randomly clicked and now my sound is gone i even unplugged my headset and my hi-fi set shows its playing a sound so.

    anyone know how to fix this?

    onboard or soundcard?
    has it overheated?

      i tried restart didnt worked dunno about second one and 3rd nop.

      i remember what i need to press again when i got no sound 1st mute button on my keyboard second the music icon wich triggers wmp to open yay sound back lol

        If you jack in your phones to this usually bright green slot (grouped with a lot of others like shown in the picture below) then you are using on-board sound chip.


        But if you have a separate card in PCI slot then it's separate sound card. The green jack would be aligned similarly like your video card.

        My guess is that you use on-board audio since you don't know.

        Anyway if you are having the on-board one then go to BIOS and check that you have it ON. I doubt this will be the cure for the problem though. Next step is to plug in your phones to a stereo and check that they are ok. The last step is loan a sound card from friend and install it and try that.

        What ever the reason you will find out and hopefully you still have the warranty in effect.

        It's not unheard of on-board audio chip to say bye bye.

          i have got a creative x-fi sound card but it seems it uses a different mute method than i know thats when you mute your wmp everything gets muted so.
