PC is slow

well for some reason my PC is shutting down slower than it used to :/ it used to shut of in like 7 seconds, now it takes 30. I reformatted and it worked for like a week but then it's slow again :cry: any ideas?

EVGA 590 SLI
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2 Gigs DDR2
EVGA e-Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb
Western Digital 160 gig SATA
Thermaltake pure power 2.0 500 watts

I used to have the same problem:|: I just unplug my comp when it goes through its period like that, are you sure it wasn't a windows update, or something like that?

The simple rule. The more starting up programs there are the more time they will take to shut down also. So get autoruns or something similar which shows you what programs you start when you start your Windows. You can be surprised.

Windows will inevitably slow down though due to updates.

I agree with this. in Run type msconfig and see what is essential and then turn off other things.
