Please Please Help Vista Update Connection problem

Ok let me start with my setup, I have a Dell Xps M1710, baseline 256mb video memory, 2 ghz Core Duo, 2 gig of ram Windows Vista 32bit premium:|:. Well anyways I started out with problems learned about running program as admin, that fixed punk buster problem, then I had mid game connection issues, disabled 1 of my cores, then it worked fine, I have played 33 hrs in the last 18days since then no problems................

HERES MY NEW PROBLEM WELL LAST NIGHT, windows vista updated, and now when I go in the game and load a map, after 2 seconds I will get connection to server been lost , no matter what map I do. I tried researching all the forums, I uninstalled the updates, checked my fire wall, tried to set the affinty, nothing makes a difference. I really dont know what to do I begging for ideas.

When I check what windows update history it says it updated,
    windows junk mail filter,
    update for windows vista
cumulative security update for internet explore 7
    security update for windows vista,
Definition update for windows defender, witch i disabled didnt make a diffrence on or off.

    Please Some one Anyone,

Thanks so much to anyone that can help

Mod, u can delete or end this thread I found the right place to post it. Sorry

you shouldnt disable one of your cores, the game doesnt require that

Vista doesnt have any real issues with this game except the run as admin requirement.

If you get a mem.dll error then there is a thread on here with instructions on how to fix it but with 2gb of ram it shouldnt be a problem.

Try uninstalling the game and then reinstalling/repatching battlefield that should fix the connectivity issues.

Thanks theleper I really apprecaite your help, I will try to do a reinstallation when I get home from work and let you know how that goes. I will still have all my stats and unlocks after a reinstallation correct?

Nope, I tried that didnt work. I uninstalled it with the ea support directions. Still doing the same problem spoke with about 5 Ea representatives no one can figure it out. After 3 hrs of talking to ea I just told them I was getting to frustrated and will have to call them back tommrow. My next option i may try tomorrow is to reinstall vista but its gna suck because im gna lose alot of stuff.

you shouldnt need to reinstall vista, check that your internets not faulty like linespeed dropping out or a dud network card/cable

if you have a virus scanner running that can effect things but should be minimal

just check you dont have a heap of things running at the same time you could try deleting your game cache so battlefield has new rendered data to run from but youd prob find its just something consuming your game resources

allow the game/games to access the internet in the windows firewall settings, windows should have already triggered a dialog asking for permission but sometimes it doesnt but that should fix any online issues

running as an admin without any compatability modes turned on should allow the game to run without any issues the compatability modes are what i found cause the dvd drive issues

you have 4gb of ram like myself so youll need to edit your executable to allow high memory support and if your running 32bit windows youll need to run the bcedit command to allow windows to address it properly so you dont get any mem.dll problems. I have a post in here somewhere with what to do the search should prove handy for that, there is a propper tool to download to use not the hack supreme commander crap thats elsewhere on here.

Yea ive upgraded to Vista right and i had the same issue but the prob in the firewall you will have 2 search for the files that will allow you 2 go online 2 play instead of just looking what is already on the list im not sure what the files are (reformatted) soo ull just have 2 search it up sry
              :)
