My DVD drive is acting funky

Recently my DVD drive's been making a lot of noise and not reading discs on the first attempt.

I don't really think it's broken because it's just a year old but who knows.

Maybe it's because I need to update my DVD drive drivers? If so, how?

    Alcohol 120 and daemon tools

if you can get your DVD drive to work for a little bit make a image of your game and mount it with daemon tools, no more DVD drive

If a drive is making noise or have trouble reading then it's definately going to be broken pretty soon.

Might be just a "Monday edition" of the drives patch because has broken in a year.

I think its unlikely that the drivers would suddenly stop working.
Most drives should work fine without dedicated drivers, since they have a standard IDE interface.

But a optical drive is like a CD player, it has a lens which can become dirty.
I don't think I ever had to clean one of mine, but if you only vacuum once a year....

And of course piece of cheap plastic might be broken somewhere inside.
