Dead Pixels?

Well, its weird, I have this blueish green line down the right side of my screen.
It never used to be there, and it doesn't seem to go off even after restarts and driver reinstalls.

And as usual, the system restore does not work.
And the funny thing is, when I prnt scrn the desktop, that line does not come up, as though it overlays everything. So, any window I put close to it, the line goes over it, so right now, I have line running down my firefox. Any window, seems to go "under" this line.

definately dead pixel as of my knowledge :p also do you get this even in BIOS? if not try it in vga mode and see if you get it still, if not its vid card related... but im almost 100% sure its a dead pixel

It cant be the video card, print screen will capture the video card artifacts and all glitches.

Its your monitor, first try replugging in your vga/dvi cable, because the cable could be the problem too.

then laptops screen is on its way out, and you can't get replacements on those can you?

It could be some magnetic object close to your laptop.

Other than that, you're screwed. Someone had to say it.

Nah, there ain't anything that magnetic around. Its not a very thick like either. Its (I would say) 1pixel. And seems more like dots with spacing than a solid line.

If the line stays in the same place all the time and you can print screen under without the line going into the picture then it has to be panel which is saying "sayonara" to you. I'm afraid panel replacement is just too costly for laptops.

No, each pixel actually consists of three parts (RGB), If one of them becomes permanently on you will get this.

You can also find articles about how to fix stuck pixels, maybe it is worth a try?

The picture doesnt look liek dead pixles to me, its one long green line, my one monitor had a straight horizontal black line at the top. Not a dead pixle.. Definitly the monitor was shortened out

Hope you have a warranty. Even if you don't, you might be able to get it fixed for less than the cost of a replacement. Try these:

FWIW, magnets do not affect LCD screens. Each vertical and horizontal line on an LCD panel is physically and electrically connected to an output pin on a solid-state device. The solder joint between the chip and the circuit trace, or between the circuit trace and the LCD edge has probably come loose due to wear and tear, improper manufacturing, or it could be due to a short or failure inside the microprocessor responsible for that particular area of the screen.

Sorry for the bad news... Otherwise, you might want to consider buying a stand-alone LCD monitor and just plugging your laptop into that, if the line bothers you too much. LCDs are CHEAP nowadays!

Sorry to bump this, but another one just appeared on the screen, this time down the middle. Its magenta in color.

Now, its getting out of hand. Do they just .. appear like that?

And tbh, I swear that my mouse cursor is able to go "over" these lines.
