X-FI ... Recommendations for People, and Questions

I know there is another tread and all, but im starting this one to get a few questions answered: (please post if u have owned, currently own, or know a lot about the x-fi sound card ... make it either fatal1ty, xtremegamer, or xtrememusic)
    1) Do you experience any lags in battlefield 2142, if so on what sound setting, and how, if you corrected the lags, did you correct them?
    2) What settings do you use in the console?
    3) what do MacroFX and elevationfilter do, and how should they be set to fix problems in bf.
    4) I insalled using the CD that came wid the box, then updated to 2.15 drivers, which are the most up to date with the site. Is this ok, or should I have dl'ed the drivers ofline (in a way i did becasue the update downloaded offline, then installed like any .exe) And if i didnt do this correct what are the problems will face?

thanks. i just did this thread because i didnt wanna go off topic on the other one, but yet i need this problem sorted out.

    I have an XFI xtrememusic.

    1) I don't suffer from any sound related lag to my knowledge.
    2) I set the console to game mode with cmss 3d virtual on by default.
    3) I tried setting the two effects to on once but that caused sound corruption for me so I set them back to auto.
    4) Download the latest drivers from the site and install those. May be worth removing the old ones before re-installing. Are you running Vista or XP? You could also try downloading the latest openAL driver.

    What issue are you having?

I currently have the latest drivers for the sound card, so thats probably not the issue.
I just get this lag that I never had before. It came on and off today, so I cant really localize the problem.
Im guessing its either the sound card or the nvidia 163.44 drvers that I got for Bioshock.
I just get this ripping type lag, where i feel like im on about 10 fps.
My system is up to date, and so is my internet...
      evga 8800 gts 640 @ 590/915
      amd x2 4200 @ 2.67 ghz
      2gb ddr2 pc6400 ram
      x-fi xtremegamer sound card.
New openAL drivers you say? ill try that.... i jsut dont know what version I have now.

Xtreme Gamer has huge issues with 2142. Just use your onboard audio. I got like a 30 fps increase while playing.

Its such ********. I mean they advertise on the 2142 box for X-fi card compatibility and they just dont work. False advertism. ****ing ****.

                  2) no CMSS-3D sound (leave this off is you have a 5.1 setup)

                  3) No idea what they are

                  4) I have never had any problem with any of the drivers

Got an X-fi Fatality that runs great now that I've installed the ALchemy software. BF2142 sounds great with almost all settings to max. Only problem I have now is that battlecommo won't 'hear' my mic. Can't get it to work at all in BF, but it works just fine in, for example, smartrecorder.
