DVD drive wont recognize BF2142 DVD. Help please!

Hello. I have a DVD drive model Optiarc AD-5170A (it's a OEM/Bulk version or however you call it :P) also called SONY AW-Q170A (for retail version).

I bought BF2142 today and I cant play it because my DVD drive wont recognize the BF DVD. I have updated my firmware to what I think is the latest version, but it still wont recognize it. I could install the game because when it didnt read the DVD the first time I just opened and closed the drive and then it read it perfectly. But now that I want to play I cant. I'd like to know if there's any way I can update the firware or something to be able to play it. Thank you very much.

EDIT: I forgot to add, the DVD drive came out in august 2006, and the latest firmware is from latest july from this year. It's really strange that being the firmware updated it still doesnt recognize the DVD. I should maybe change the DVD? I bought it today tho so I dont think it's damaged. It's not scratched or anything, but maybe... Please help :S

There are little you can do about it. Check the Sony's website (or the real manufacturer's) to see if there are any firmware updates available. If not, then it's a new DVD drive for you.

I encountered the same problem when I bought BF2. I had to buy a new DVD drive.

OK, how did you fix the problem? I did see one there for the disk reading problem.
