Rate my new PC please

I am gonna order the parts Friday. I Would like you guys opinion and if I should go another way.

Case: CoolerMaster Mystique 632

CPU: Intel® Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU @ 2.4GHz

Ram: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Video Card: 8600 GT 256MB Superclocked (I was gonna go with the 8800 but I wanted the better CPU instead)

Hard Drive: WD 200gb 7200rpm

Sound: On-Board sound for now but will upgrade later

thats a hell of a sacrafice man, the 8600 GT does not perform as well as you might think, there are many cases where the 7600 GT will out perform it :/ I would just get a 7950 GT instead...

Sniper's right, the 8600GT scores really low on benchmarking tests. Save up some money and buy an 8800 Ultra. Then you won't have to buy anything for years.

8800 ultra? i think thats way above his budget am i rite? perhaps u can get the e6420 n oc it to 2.4 or more since its super overclockable and use the savings to get a 8600gts. nt much more performance increase but at least that will alleviate the gpu bottleneck that ur chosen rig has.

^ agreed, the 8600 is no where near as good as an 8800, go for the 8800 by saving up a bit, or getting the suggested proc and oc.

Do the switch over between CPU and 8800. It will be much more pleasurable from gaming point of view. A little bit lighter proc can handle and feed 8800 very well.

Even If i go with the e6420 and 8800gts 320mb it's still over my budget. But I could go with the 7950gt stay at my limit. Should I go with that?

8600gts not the 8600gt, the gt is definitely very weak and some manufacturers do have it factory oc for better value.

I would say that it depends on what resolution you're running at. If your monitor only does 1024 x 768, then the 8600GT would be fine I guess. Anything higher and I'd follow the other guys' suggestions, and get a lower end CPU and an 8800GTS. Even an E6320 would be fine up until 1920 x 1200. If you've got a monitor that does that, then I'd figure you'd be able to afford an E6600 + 8800GTS combo anyway....

I would sacrifice some components to get an 8800 class gpu. Maybe a smaller hard disk, slower CPU. I have the e6300 and it performs very well. The 8800 will give you all the performance you need at the mo and a bit of future proofing. By all accounts the e6300 is very overclockable too.

Why? It'd be held back unless he got an E6600... which was the initial problem anyway.
