Well I haven't bothered getting the waterblock yet but I overclocked it anyway with no change in temp which is nice. My 8800gtx is now at 650 and 2200 megahertz and I got about 12000 which is almost a 2 thousand improvement, these numbers are not quite accurate as i cant remember the exact number but I know it was something like that

meh... not much to write home about, but I finally got the Thermalright 120 Extreme to cool the new Opty. Sill running at 3GHz pushing an eVGA 8800 GTS KO ACS³ Edition; although 10C cooler on the cores, which is always nice. The rig overall though has been wasted. Been playing the QW BETA, hate it, and... well... it sucks. I could go on for pages, but I digress, 2142 at least still rocks!

Got weird results today. Did the change over from opty@2,4Ghz to E6750 and the CPU results in 3DMark06 went down.
But still the graphical results showed major improvements in fps and ran very smoothly with 8800GTS.
score: 8218 -> 6874
sm2.0 3823 -> 4106
hdr: 3797 -> 3985
cpu: 1849 -> 976
proxycon : 31.308 -> 34.561
firefly: 32.413 -> 33.876
canyon: 36.045 -> 36.908
freeze: 39.901 -> 42.799
My overall score went down but the fps went up.
I think 8800 series is starving somewhat under AMD in games. Since fps improvements have been quite big.

Ok. The weirdness solved.
I got Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool and it showed very disturbing stuff. With the burn on on both core the temps went >85C and the down throttling of the clocks occurred. With one core the temps went to 85C on and the throttling did not occur so any aps using only one core did not cause the clocks reducal. But with CPU tests the both cores were utilized and it drove over the edge. That's why the CPU score was so sucky.
And the fault was all mine. When installing the Intel's "snap on" cooler. I was wondering if those two corners were in properly snapped on. It turned out they weren't :shakehead:
But now everything is ok and idle temps are were they should be around 20-25C.
Anyway the score is now 9400 with 3dmark06
