Where can I order a built PC?

Hey guys, I want to buy a kickass PC around November, to get an idea on how much would I need, I want to take a look at some pages where you can customize a PC,
www.ibuypower.com comes to mind, do you know any better site?

So you don't want to build it yourself?

I don't know where you're from but in Aus if you want a ready-made PC your best bet is to find the cheapest PC store in your area, drive down and tell them how much you want to spend and they will knock it together for you. Doing this is not only gets you the best bang for your buck but also supports your local PC suppliers (Good ones are few and far between here).

How much you need is going to be defined by how much you want.. you can spend $400 on a pc or up to $5000+

      Also..

I would build it myself, but have no experience doing so :/, so I don't know, lets say, which motherboard can go with X video card and so on...
I'm looking to spend around 2000 USD
        Any recommendations?

I know that PC Gamer puts out their PC Building Bible issue every couple of years. They eventually put it on CD for subscribers, so I'll see if i can find it and possibly load it up on the web so you can download it. I also found another source that did a PC building Bible but haven't had a chance to read through it yet. Here's the link.

Most of the techniques of PC building stay pretty close together so even though certain parts go obsolete the new parts go together pretty similar. Honestly compared to the first PC i built the way Motherboards and parts are done today it's much easier.

Anyone who ever reversed an IDE header or had to manually update a driver in Win 3.1 knows what I'm talking about.

            autoexec.bat
            config.sys

"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt." -John Winger (Bill Murray) Stripes

Oh yeah, Building a machine today is nothing now, especially with Windows 7.

Re: Where can I order a built PC?

Yeah around $2000 if I could save some, (the chart above shows $1505 for the "Enthusiast") It would be great.
I want to buy a kickass PC so it can last me a good 5 years or so, the GTX580 looks great, but I assume we're going to get better GPU's by November.
Have any of you used newegg for this kind of items?

Re: Where can I order a built PC?

$2000 will be enough to build a monster PC but wait till November when you're actually going to be buying the thing. Anything you scope out now will be a lost cause by then.

Also if you don't know how to put the pc together or don't want to, then don't. Cost you an extra $20 or so to have your pc put together for you at the store and you also get warranty. So if they F something up in the process they have to replace it. It's really pretty easy to put a pc together but it's easier to just pay some monkey $20 to do it for you :P

just bought the families first new PC in over 11 years. We actually went with ibuypower so we wouldn't have all of Dell or HPs proprietary software loaded in and bogging it down.

Ordered on the 2nd so it still is not finished or shipped yet but really hoping for something great!

When you receive it, would you mind posting final price, specs and how was the service you were given?

Well, while it is still not here I can give you the specs of the comp that was ordered.

First we began with the Weekly Special-A
After customizing it to what my family and I wanted we came out to the following specs:

                          Theramaltake Dokker Case
                          Intel i5 2500K 3.30
                          8GB RAM
NVIDIA GTX 460 1GB Palit Sonic Platinum
                          GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Motherboard
                          700 watt power
                          1TB HD
                          LG BluRay Rewriter
                          Windows 7

& it came with Star Trek Online for free.

other stuff like sound and network card we left as the default same as keyboard and mouse. we purchased a 22inch monitor from dell for 30% off.

Total price (not monitor) $1,158 no tax and free shipping

If you want to build it yourself we TGNers can help you get the best products and ones that go together.

From there it's really simply. Pretty much just plug everything together and pop in your windows disc. :wee:

Yeah, its pretty much that easy anymore for sure. The hardest part is getting the wiring on your motherboard to your case correct and if thats wrong, you just switch the wires.
