Would you guys do anything different. I am building it for the next gen games, especially for BF3.

With Windows 7 64 bit and a few other things which I didn't include in the above list it will run me around $1,500

This is just my opinion on it, but I wouldnt waste the money on the speed of those drives.

I have the same video card and its nice.

One other piece of advice; be sure the RAM is on the ASUS RAM approval guide. I forget what they call it, but you can find it on their support site under that board. I LOVE asus boards, but they are picky about what RAM you use.

I dont know a lot about AMD chips. I tend to focus on Intel, but it looks like a nice chip.

I would save the 1500 dollars and wait til what ever "next gen" game you want to play is about to come out.
This is the worst time to spend 1500 on a system for BF3.

There hasn't been a better time to build an intel based system in a long time. Save the $70 dollars on the cooler and build an i7 system. Only reason to put a cooler on an i7 is to do some major over-clocking and there is no reason to over-clock an i7 for gaming.

I also don't see a reason to go with 6 cores over 4 cores. Are you using programs specifically coded to use 6 cores and do a lot of multitasking?

I would also go with 6gb of faster ram.

MB seems to support Crossfire but not SLI. Thats is something to consider since you are going with a NVIDIA card.
6 GB makes sense if you are building an I7 system with triple channel support. AMD only has dual channel.

As for the CPU, well look at the charts and decide what you want to pay. I dont expect my AMD 955 to be a bottleneck for a long time, the fastes available now are only 25% faster in games.

Personally I prefer AMD over Intel because there are fewer different sockets in play, so I have a greater chance of upgrading just the CPU later.

Guarantee you don't get the performance you pay for with a 6c proc now or in next gen gaming. If history repeats itself you'll probably have more problems and be waiting for game updates to get the performance you desire.

I was looking at the MB for the i7 that Luna gave me a link for. The i7 shows to be CPU Socket Type LGA1155 but all the MB on NewEgg are LGA 1156. Will the i7 still work on those boards?

As for hard drives, I would get a 7200 SATA drive with some good cache on it. I mentioned in another post that I like seagate, this is the drive I use:

But hard drives are a lot of opinion. Many like Western Digital or other brands.

I mean, if you really want to go for speed records, the raptors are fast, but, to me, the price vs. storage doesnt justify it.

If you can, Wait for AMD's Bulldozer to be released along with new AMD boards that will be backword compatible to previous CPU's. Due to start shipping around April.
