    picking a laptop

So, I've been allowed to swap my laptop in for a different one with similar specs.

    My current one:
    Inspiron 1720 (17'' screen)
    Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz 3mb cache
    4gb ram
    8600m GT 256mb DDR2

    The new one
    XPS m1530
    Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz 4mb cache
    4gb ram
    8600m GT 256mb DDR3 ram

So the two major differences that concerns me are:
    2.4Ghz vs 2.2Ghz.
and DDR2 vs DDR3 video ram

Other differences that i know of:
XPS runs alot hotter. my inspiron is usually nice and cool
screen is smaller but i have a external monitor
XPS is lighter and has a bigger battery
inspiron has a numpad which is pretty useful

also the games that i play currently are:
    BF2: Project Reality
    Heroes of Newerth
    The Sims 3
left 4 dead 2 (yeah its pretty cpu intensive i think)

    Re: picking a laptop

Honestly I think you are wasting your money on just about anything other than an asus.

I haven't been looking around lately but asus tends to be the best bang of buck for laptops lately. Their quaility is much better than anything you get from dell.

ah just seen it's a swap; i just woke up

    I don't think you'll see much of a difference.
