Computer Help - Keeps Shutting Down

After a few minutes or so of any game, my computer will completely turn off. Not just a CTD, but just shut off. Otherwise, I can surf the internet, watch videos, listen to music, etc. Any ideas of what this could be?

It's happened on Crysis, Tropico 3, Just Cause 2, Empire: Total War and GTA IV so far

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
    Memory: 2046MB RAM
    Hard Drive: 549 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_rtm.061101-2205)
    Motherboard: P5N-E SLI
    Power Suppy: 650 Watts

One of two things off the top of my head:

    1. Heat. Some fan is not working or is blocked or clogged. If you freeze up before shutting down it could be that.

    2. Power supply. You are exceeding power and the system is shutting down. You could have a capacitor that is about to fail on your power supply or you are simply exceeding the load of it.

I had the same problem a number of years ago. I thought I had a good power supply but found out that its true wattage was rather low. Everything would work fine until I got heavy into a game and then it was like someone pulled the plug while I played.

It ended up being my PSU overheating cause it was too dusty. So I took a compressed air tool and blew it out and its fine now
