    Dual Monitor Help!

Ok well my new 24" monitor finally came through and so i wanted to get it running alongside my old 19" monitor.

I currently have an ATi 4870 HD with two DVI connectors. Firstly i bought myself a new DVI-D cable for the new monitor so that i could plug it straight into GFX card without the need for a VGA adapter (that my 19" monitor is currently using).

On my first go the 19" monitor loads up fine but the 24" simply flashes "NO DVI-D Cable" and when i try and detect it using either my ATi catalyst controller or the inbuilt Microsoft display detector it cant find anything.

So then i figured it might be the actual DVI connector on my GFX card so swapped round the monitors and still the new monitor says "NO DVI-D Cable" and the other monitor works fine!

Can anyone help me as this is becoming very frustrating

P.S i literally bought the DVI-D cable today so i doubt its that.

Thats kind of obvious solutions always appear 5 seconds after you made a post on a support forum

hows the performance when running two monitors on one card?

can you run game on one and desktop on another at same time?

          Yup. No noticeable performance loss.

Yea my 4870 is handling it very well. I have been playing Blops on all high on my widescreen monitor with facebook/Big Bang Theory on the other

I have an old 15 inch LCD as my secondary. I will often have Teamspeak or some kind of resource monitor running on it, and I have never noticed any performance issues.
